Welcome back to Paul Michael Company‘s Design 101 mini post series.  For the second and final part of our series on designing for non-designers, we’re going to shift our focus from design books to the largest digital library of design inspiration: the internet!

Two wonderful websites for design inspiration are Houzz and Pinterest. These free, user-friendly websites offer fantastic high quality photos of everything from DIY decorating to professional, high-end interior design. Houzz is one of the top online authorities for design and remodeling; not only does it showcase the work of millions of design professionals, but it also provides thousands of articles written by design experts.

As one of the fastest growing social media platforms to date, Pinterest is another fantastic resource – and our personal favorite – for DIY decorating and design. If you have yet to explore the millions of DIY decorating and home design pinboards, we suggest you start!

Blogs are another great resource for design inspiration online. Usually from the perspective of a professional or a creative-minded design enthusiast, design blogs can offer a more personal experience when searching for design inspiration or guidance and sometimes (if you’re lucky) even step-by-step instructions. Some of our favorite design blogs are Design Sponge, Desire to Inspire, More Design Please, Habitually Chic and Decor8.
